The popularity of naan has skyrocketed recently in the US. This is interesting because naan is normally made in India in a large clay communal oven called a tandoor oven, which the typical household lacks. As a reason, naan is not typically served at home. You may easily create other types of flat bread at home, such as puris, rotis, and parathas, on a heated flat iron or pan. Both there and in the US, naan breads are offered at Indian eateries. Naan is generally a northern Indian bread, though it can also be found in nearby nations like Pakistan and Afghanistan.

There seem to be many different types of naan. Some are thin, almost crisp, and completely flat, while others are thick, mushy, and have enormous bubbles baked right in. The components are usually flour, yeast, milk or water, ghee, yoghurt, and salt, depending on what the recipe calls for. There are possibilities for ingredients like eggs. After being prepared, the yeast dough is allowed to rise before being shaped into teardrop-shaped flat loaves. In a clay tandoor, the enormous disc of dough is roasted there by placing it up against the side of the clay oven. This occurs extremely quickly because of the intense heat.
These breads can be made at home in a variety of ways. When baking them on an outdoor grill, which likewise generates the required high heat, the notion is most comparable. They can also be cooked in a home oven at a relatively high temperature on baking sheets or a pizza stone that has been heated for at least half an hour.
1 packet of instant rise yeast
1 pound of combined all-purpose and whole wheat flour, or half each
1 glass of warm milk, 2 tablespoons of yoghurt, and half a cup of ghee
Combine the first three elements, then set them aside. After carefully blending the dry ingredients, add the liquid components on top. The dough should be blended, given a 10-minute kneading period, and then set aside to rise until it has doubled in size. The dough is divided into six pieces after being punched down. The roll or pat will expand into the traditional teardrop shape when you pull on one end of it. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes on baking sheets or a pizza stone in a 475 degree oven. Pre-heat the grill to high, cover it, and inspect it after a minute. Flip and cook the second side for at least a minute if properly browned.
After baking, naan can be sprinkled with poppy or nigella seeds or drizzled with melted ghee and left as is. Before brushing it on the baked loaves, you can melt the ghee with minced garlic to add flavour. You might also include finely ground coriander seed. In India, breads are used as utensils to eat delicacies like kebabs and savoury curry dishes. Pieces of bread are used as scoops for the dish instead of forks. It is understandable why these loaves have grown to be so popular, regardless of how they are eaten. Try them out to see for yourself.
