Persona 4 Golden is not the first game in the Persona series to have late-game party members. The last playable member of the Investigation Team (IT) is Naoto Shirogane. She may be identified by the main character and the others as early as May 16, but throughout the most of P4G, she will play a supporting role.
Before the Secret Laboratory dungeon may surface, players must conduct a number of investigations around Inaba once they witness Naoto on the Midnight Channel. It is advised to reach around level 55 before battling Naoto’s Shadow. Even though Shadow Naoto is not the hardest monster in Persona 4 Golden, going up against her without a plan will have negative effects.
Shadow Naoto: Best Skills and Persona
Shadow Naoto’s dungeon, which is called “Secret Laboratory,” opens on September 16 and closes on October 5. If a player is at the right level (level 55), they can rush into the dungeon and finish it all in one go. But if this is the first time a player is going through the game, they might want to wait until September 21 before taking on Shadow Naoto. This is because the Sun Persona, Tam Lin, has a Fusion Forecast. If people combine Tam Lin on September 21, it will learn the Amrita Skill, get more XP, and have its stats go up.
To combine Tam Lin, the main character must be at least level 53. Fighting the Golden Hands on the 6th floor of the Secret Laboratory is a good way to farm XP.
Tam Lin can only be made through Square Special Fusion. The following Persona of the Sun Arcana cards are needed:
- Phoenix
- Gdon
- Narasimha
- Yatagarasu
Even though it’s not necessary, players should try to get their Sun Social Link to a higher Rank (like 8 or 9) if they can’t hit Rank 10 by September 21. This will make Tam Lin and any other Persona of the Sun Arcana give more XP when they are fused. If player’s Sun Social Link isn’t Rank 10 by September, then focus on the IT’s Social Links since they’ll be far more useful in battle.
Team Set-Up
Players should bring a nurse (like Yukiko) and someone who can buff the whole team (like Teddie) or cancel out enemy buffs (like Yosuke with Dekaja). Make sure the main character has a strong Persona that attacks with magic and that it has Mind Charge and a -dyne tier Skill (Ziodyne is suggested). Some Persona, like Dis or Surt, have stronger Magic than Tam Lin.
Thanks to their Amrita Skill, Teddie and Yukiko can help fight Shadow Naoto. This will fix all state problems except for being Down or Unconscious.
The Social Link of any characters that players bring into the fight with Shadow Naoto should be maxed out or at least around Rank 8 or 9. Add a character to the group if they have their Awakened Persona. At this point in P4G, players should have Yosuke or Chie’s Awakened Persona at the very least. Once a Persona has reached its Awakening, it will learn a Passive Skill that makes its Affinity Weakness harder to avoid. Since Shadow Naoto will go after Affinity Weaknesses, it’s a good idea to stack this Skill with an Accessory that makes it easier to avoid attacks.
Make sure that Rise’s Social Link is also at a higher level. If the Lovers Social Link is at a higher rank, Rise is more likely to help friends (like with Mind Charge).
You can buy things at the Shiroku Store that will heal your HP or SP, or you can use the planting box outside the Dojima Residence. On August 21, players who watch the Shopping Network can get x5 Hiranya Cabbage. All state problems except Down and Unconscious can be fixed with these.
If you use the yard, you might also want to get the Tetracorn and Makaracorn from there. This will give the person who uses it both Tetrakarn and Makarakarn. On June 25, buy the Barrier Corn from the lady at Junes and plant it as soon as you can. Tetracorn and Makaracorn both take 8 days to grow in the game moto x3m.
If players don’t have the Amrita Soda item, they should bring at least one party member (not the main) who knows Amrita to heal any state problems.
Shadow Naoto Strategy
Shadow Naoto doesn’t have any Affinity Weaknesses, but Electric-based Skills hurt her more for some reason. She can also use every basic skill that ends in “-dyne.” This means that she won’t have any trouble going after the party’s Affinity Weaknesses. Because of this, Tam Lin is a good choice for her boss fight. It doesn’t have any Affinity Weaknesses, can cancel Electric and Bless, and is strong against Fire and Physical Skills. It also comes with Ziodyne as one of its skills.
She will begin by using Skills with a single target, like Agidyne or Garudyne. If she is able to knock someone down, she will then use Heat Riser or Debilitate. If she uses Heat Riser, you can cancel the stat boost by using Dekaja or an item that purifies water. If she uses Debilitate, use Dekunda or Purifying Salt to cancel it out. If you use a Support Skill that boosts any of your stats (such as Evasion/Accuracy, Attack, or Defense), at least one of Debilitate’s benefits will go away.
There are three unique Skills that Shadow Naoto will use over the course of battle:
- Galgalim Eyes: Reduces a party member’s HP to 1HP and inflicts Enervation.
- Element Zero: Nullifies elemental resistances to the entire party.
- Mute Ray: Inflicts HP and SP damage as well as the Silence ailment.
The closer Shadow Naoto gets to half health or if she succeeds to take someone out, the more often she will use these skills. Galgalim Eyes should be treated as quickly as possible with Amrita and then healed with Diarahan or Mediarahan. If you are struck by a Mute Ray, use Amrita if you are not Silenced. Finally, players have two options for dealing with Element Zero: either they apply Skills like White Wall, which increase elemental resistances, or they wait out the effects (which last for three rounds).
Cast -kaja buffs from characters like Yosuke or Teddie to boost defense, attack, or accuracy/evasion. When not acting in the support position, Yukiko may be in charge of healing and utilizing Agidyne. The main character (and last party member) need to concentrate on dealing with Mind Charged or Charged assaults. If you keep using this tactic, Shadow Naoto will finally lose.
