In these socially distant times, virtual happy hours have become the norm for maintaining connections and having a good time with friends and colleagues. While chatting and catching up is enjoyable, incorporating games into your virtual happy hour can take the fun factor up a notch.
You can now enjoy playing in an immersive and unique virtual escape room hosted by Breakout, Asia’s first-ever movie-styled escape room brand! Be it a gathering of friends, family, or remote workers, Breakout’s virtual escape rooms are here to keep you intrigued!
Amongst the various online video conferencing platforms available today, Zoom has emerged as a choice, offering a plethora of options to keep everyone engaged and entertained. Here are seven exciting virtual happy hour games on Zoom that will inject a dose of laughter and friendly competition into your online gatherings:
Virtual Trivia
Put your knowledge to the test with a thrilling round of virtual trivia. Choose a category that suits the interests of your group, whether it’s movies, sports, history, or pop culture. Designate a host who will ask the questions, and participants can buzz in with their answers using the chat feature or simply unmute themselves.
To make it more interactive, you can use online trivia platforms like Kahoot or Trivia Plaza, which provide ready-made quizzes or allow you to create custom ones. Keep track of the score and crown the trivia champion in the end!
The Virtual Pictionary
Let your artistic abilities shine in an exhilarating virtual Pictionary showdown. Form teams and utilize an online Pictionary generator to present words or phrases for each round. One team member will take on the task of illustrating the word on a digital whiteboard while the others attempt to guess it.
The team with the highest number of accurate guesses emerges victorious in the round. For an added twist, you can impose time limits for each drawing or allow the opposing team to snatch a point if the drawing proves to be excessively challenging. Pictionary is a delightful and captivating game that will elicit laughter and encourage enthusiastic support among all participants.
Online Escape Rooms
Challenge your team’s problem-solving skills with a virtual escape room. Choose from a variety of online escape rooms or create your own using Zoom’s breakout room feature. Divide the group into smaller teams and assign each team to a separate breakout room.
Provide clues and puzzles for each team to solve, and the first team to escape wins the game. Virtual escape rooms offer a great opportunity to work together, build team spirit and have a blast while doing it.
Virtual Bingo
Elevate the excitement of your virtual happy hour by introducing the timeless delight of Bingo. You can utilize an online Bingo card generator to fashion personalized Bingo cards for each participant.
To embark on the gaming journey, the host will vocally announce the numbers while participants eagerly mark them on their individual Bingo cards. The victor shall be the first individual to achieve either a straight line or a full house, joyously proclaiming the cherished exclamation of “Bingo!” Such a triumph signals their conquest of the game.
For an added dash of amusement, consider integrating themed Bingo variations such as “Movie Bingo” or “TV Show Bingo,” adding an extra layer of thrill and entertainment to the experience.
Charades Challenge
Act out your favorite movies, songs, or TV shows in a hilarious game of virtual charades. Split the group into teams, and have each team take turns acting out a phrase or word without speaking while the others guess what it is.
To make it more challenging & interesting, you can limit the time for each turn or set categories for each round. Charade is an ageless gem of a game that guarantees uproarious laughter and spirited camaraderie among all players.
Two Truths and a Lie
Deepen your understanding of your friends and colleagues by engaging in the captivating game of “Two Truths and a Lie.” Within this interactive experience, each participant unveils three statements about themselves—two truths and one fabricated tale.
The challenge lies in discerning which statement is the lie. To infuse an extra layer of amusement, establish time constraints for each turn or inject amusing or embarrassing truths and lies. “Two Truths and a Lie” stands as an exceptional icebreaker, fostering a delightful atmosphere where everyone eagerly shares and revels in laughter.
Never Have I Ever
Indulge in the renowned social game of “Never Have I Ever,” sans the libations. This entertaining pastime unearths intriguing and occasionally comical revelations about each player. Each participant takes turns presenting an activity or experience they have never partaken in, prompting those who have indulged in it to lower a finger or place a marker down.
The game continues until only one person has fingers or markers remaining. This game can lead to surprising revelations and funny stories, fostering a deeper connection among the participants.
Now, virtual happy hours on Zoom don’t have to be limited to mere conversations. Incorporating games can elevate the fun and engagement levels, bringing everyone closer together, even through screens! So, the next time you plan a virtual happy hour, try out these games and enjoy an unforgettable time with your friends and colleagues.
