Why Must You Eat Nuts?

Nuts are very delicate fruits that can quickly perish and lose their benefits. This is the reason why they are more often found in their dried form. Crunchy and easy to eat, these can be a great snack to take at home, before starting your workout or even at the office. They can easily be paired with a strong cheese like Roquefort or with something milder, like goat cheese.

Nuts also lend themselves to many easy-to-make everyday recipes, like quiches and omelettes. They add a very special taste in sauces, salads, and pastries. Of course, their high protein and fat content also make them excellent energy food you can consume without moderation.

Why Eat Nuts?

In addition to their antioxidant properties, nuts are rich in dietary fibre and promote intestinal transit by stimulating the digestive tract. For this reason, it is recommended to consume it in case of constipation. They are especially more effective when fresh.

In addition, these fruits contain many neuroprotectors, such as omega-3 fatty acids and melatonin, as well as vitamins B9 and E. This is why they help improve cognitive functions.

Consuming nuts regularly, therefore, increases memory and concentration, but also understanding and reasoning.

In addition, if these fruits can be scary because of their high caloric intake, they are still very compatible with a slimming diet. Rich in unsaturated fats increase the feeling of satiety, which means that we eat less during meals.

Finally, due to their high content of polyphenols and other antioxidants, nuts also help fight against free radicals that accelerate the aging process.

The Limits of Nuts.

Be careful, however, not to exceed certain daily quantities. Beyond 30g to 50g per day, the lipids contained in the nuts, even if they are good lipids, would have harmful effects.

Nuts are often blamed for causing weight gain. This is indeed the case when they are added to another source of lipids. If nuts are eaten as a replacement for another source of fat, Canadian studies have shown that nuts cause less weight gain.

Nuts are often causes of allergy. Often associated with peanut allergy, tree nut allergy can cause serious reactions, including anaphylactic shock. People with peanut allergies are, therefore, often advised not to eat nuts.

People susceptible to kidney stones should also watch their nut intake. Indeed, one of the substances found in walnuts would be responsible for urinary lithiasis.

Nuts and other dried fruits are also known to promote canker sores. So be careful if you consume large amounts daily.

Finally, nuts are to be eaten plain! So you can forget other snack stars. Also, forget the roasted and salted peanuts and almonds as an appetizer. These nuts are not great for your health.
