The functions of the entrepreneur

As we saw in previous entries with the company, the entrepreneur also performs a series of functions related to its administration. These are planning, managing, organizing, and controlling the company.

Once we have seen the evolution of the concept of the entrepreneur, we are going to know the functions that he must carry out in the company to contribute to its smooth running of it. As you will see, the employer performs four main functions.

When we studied the components of the company in a previous entry, we saw that one of its elements is Human Resources, made up of the owners, the employer (or manager), and the employees. Although in units 5 and 6 we will see in much more detail the functions it performs, I leave you this little preview to finish our first topic.

  • Objective planning: Plan a series of objectives from the initial situation of the company. These objectives will be achieved if the appropriate strategies are developed and implemented, depending on the budget.
  • Organization and coordination: The employer must organize the formal structure of the company, distributing tasks and responsibilities to all its employees, without forgetting the informal relationships that arise between them.
  • Human Resources Management:  Employees must be clear about their roles in the company. The employer must lead, motivate and maintain fluid communication with them to achieve the proposed objectives.
  • Control function: With the control function, the employer makes sure that all tasks are being carried out as planned to achieve the initially proposed objectives.
