Makeup Techniques for Mature Skin

As women age, it gets a little tough to achieve a flawless and youthful glow. It is really important to wear clothes and makeup that will compliment your skin and not bring out imperfections. As we get older, our skin starts to age and we get wrinkles and texture. Women with mature skin tend to have slight lines and wrinkles around the eye area and the facial skin may be getting a little bit loose. With these problems, you might be having problems with the makeup techniques you have used in the past. It is really important to make sure that wear colors and different makeup products that will enhance your beauty and not bring out the texture of your skin.

In applying your foundation, try to avoid using powders and stick with the creams or liquid foundation. Liquid or cream foundation will look more natural on you whereas compact powder foundation will settle in your pores and fine lines, making you look older with dry and aged skin.

When applying eye shadow to mature skin, make sure the eye area is very well moisturized. This will keep the eyeshadow from caking as your skin gets dry throughout the day. It is also recommended to apply a concealer and eye primer before putting on your eyeshadow. The eye primer can help smooth and moisturize fine lines along the eye area. As for eyeshadow colors, keep in mind that harsh colors that are bright and very intense tend to make us look older than we are. It is recommended to use matte colors that will enhance and perk your eyes a little bit. Adding a bit of liquid bronzer or even a cream eyeshadow would also be great for someone with mature skin.

Apply the bronzer immediately under the cheek bone as well as around on the face. A technique in applying the bronzer is just like writing the number three on the face, from the temple down to the cheek and then down to the jaw line, you can softly blend out the color. Applying bronzer is great because it gives you that really natural sun kiss look but at the same time it’s working with your skin tone and giving you a more beneficial look. It’s giving you more color versus just having one cover of color all over your face.

Also, try to stay away from shimmery eye shadows. Younger women wear a lot of shimmer but, wearing too much shimmer isn’t going to make you look younger. Instead, it will only make your skin look awkward because the shimmer will settle in your fine lines and will only bring out wrinkles and make you appear a lot older than you are.

So, if you want to look younger, keep it simple, less is more. Wearing a beautiful blend of matte colors with a little shimmer will do the trick. Liquids and creams for a foundation and cream blushes are great but just try to avoid frosty eye shadows. You may have your own technique in applying your makeup, you can just try to change the texture of the product that you use to compliment your skin.
