How to Draw A Bubble Letter K

How to Draw A Bubble Letter K. K is one of the most challenging letters to write when you are just starting. Luckily, this letter’s uppercase and lowercase versions are similar and more straightforward.

It may not be the most common letter in the alphabet, but we still use it fairly frequently.

One benefit of having a more complex letter is making it look fabulous in design. That’s precisely what we want to do in this guide!

In this guide, we’ll go through 6 steps to draw a bubble with the letter K. We’ll show you how to draw it and then give you some ideas on how to color it.

As a bonus, we also cover some fun ideas on how to take it to the next level! So grab your drawing and painting tools and prepare for fun as we begin the guide.

How to Draw A Bubble Letter K

Step 1

As mentioned above, writing the letter K can be tricky at the best of times. Three lines must interact at certain angles, which can take some time.

When learning to draw a bubble, we often suggest you pencil in the letter first. This is something we highly recommend for that.

You can do this by lightly drawing a large version of the letter K as you would typically write it. Then we can draw the letter K bubble around it.

As for the first step, we will keep things friendly and straightforward. Now we draw the tip of the pointed part of the letter on the top left.

Draw a curved rounded line to make it look like our reference image. Once this is done, we can proceed to step 2.

Step 2

Next, we will finish the left side of the letter K. To do this, and we will extend the line you drew in the first step.

Begin by dragging down from the left side of the curved line from step 1. It will initially be a vertical line, but it should have a slight ripple.

At the base, it will rotate and rise again, as shown in our reference image. It would help if you had a tall, thin, oval shape.

There is an empty area on the right, which we see in our example. We will fill this out fairly soon in the next few steps.

We’ll move on to step 3 once you’re ready and happy with the progress.

Step 3

Looking at the letter K, you will see two branches sticking out of the vertical line on the left.

In step 3, we will add the top branch of the letter K design. The tip of this branch starts right where the gap we left in shape begins.

To add this branch, we’ll use another line that curves around itself to form a thin oval shape.

As you can see in the reference image, this shape is roughly the same height as the top of the shape on the left side of the K.

There will still be a space under this branch, but we’ll fill that space when we finish the outline in the next step of the guide.

Step 4

You can complete this letter’s outline by adding the design’s final branch.

You’ve already done this a few times in this guide, so this one should be easy for you!

Again we create a long, rounded shape that extends out from the space we left earlier. This time it will be angled down, as seen in the picture.

Now the gap is filled, and you have the complete shape of the letter K. It might seem complicated at first, but now you see how easy it can be to disassemble!

You’re ready to move on to some final details, but take the time to make sure everything is precisely how you want it.

First, using a pencil to draw the letter was recommended, and now would be the time to erase those lines before proceeding.

If you have a nice pen or marker for the final outline, do so now to make it look the best.

We can add the finishing touches whenever you’re ready to get things right!

Step 5

You’ve completed the more complicated parts of this project, and now it’s time to draw some additional interior details. The design already looks great, but these will help improve it!

The main goal of these additional details is to complete the idea that this is a bubble. They make the letter look like it’s a bubble or reflective balloon.

First, we draw some round shapes at the top points of the letter. These will be there to show where the light is reflecting off the surface of the letter.

With these added, we can add some lines within the design along the inside edges of the K.

We should add these sparingly, but a few lines make it look more like a bubble with some volume. You can recreate it in our design, but don’t be afraid to try other ideas!

Draw some patterns or create a texture with other line details for some other approaches you can use.

Step 6

This is the final step of the guide, and now it’s time to have some fun with your favorite art supplies!

That means it’s time to add some color to your design, and you can get creative.

There are no wrong ways to colorize this design, but we’ve given you a starting point with an example.

Our design used a pink color scheme to make this image stand out from the page. The idea is to make it look like a bubble, and you can use your colors.

The pink color is relatively dark and solid throughout most of the image but lightens around the reflective oval details we drew.

This gives the balloon a more realistic texture and hints at the light shining on it. You can choose the same colors as us, but you can also use any other color!

You can also try mixing and matching different art tools and techniques when adding color to this design. It’s up to you now, so let your creativity run wild and see what happens!
