Casino Lamar Employees Concerned About Information Disclosure

Gateway Casino & Entertainment recently suffered a massive cyberattack on Ontario operators, and Casino Lamar’s employees are not happy at all. Many former and current employees of the property are angry that the ransomware attack in April may have led to an information breach on a company that suspended its day-to-day activities in the province.

On April 16, 2023, Gateway Casino & Entertainment announced the imminent closure of all gaming facilities across Ontario, including casino llamas close to Oriria. Almost all of the operator’s facilities resumed after two weeks, but Casino Lamar took the time to resume work on May 9, 2023. Therefore, the staff has been out of work for the longest time among all accommodations.

Days after all amenities were shut down, the company also released an update. They reported hiring third-party cyber specialists to help recover IT systems. This week, the operator said an investigation was underway into a possible data leak, noting it may have led to information leaks from certain former and current employees in British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario.

He said he was not aware of any misuse of data and was currently notifying employees to prepare for potential unauthorized access to personal information. In addition, the company worked with Equifax, a credit reporting agency, to provide credit monitoring and privacy protection for current and former employees.

Greg Weaver, chairman of Unipo Casino Lamar and second vice president of Unipo Local 1090, said the union had requested credit monitoring following the outbreak of the cyberattack. He added that he was discouraged by the union’s choice to wait until it confirmed that personal information had been violated and then take steps to begin monitoring credit.

In addition, Mr. Weaver said casino employees were quite angry with their employers and the current situation. He explained that employees are very concerned because personal information is confidential and leakage can lead to unwanted problems. He said employees have the right to lose their minds because data can reach the dark web.

Gateway also reported that it was working with advisers to determine if the sponsor’s personal information was affected in the attack. He said there is currently no evidence that sensitive guest personal information has been stolen. The investigation concluded by saying it had provided continuous updates to law enforcement, regulators and privacy commissioners. 온라인카지노

Technology analyst Kami Levy said the incident pointed to the need for companies to invest more money and time in cybersecurity and employee training. Experts said users should keep an eye on online banking to avoid abnormal activities. Finally, he noted that it is common for digital criminals to send phishing emails that appear legitimate to people inside the organization
