Bayern believe Kane would make an invaluable addition, not just for his goalscoring ability but also because of his ability to drop back and assist, making him ideal for Thomas Tuchel’s system.

Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund reportedly raised their offer to over EUR100 million to bring an end to this transfer saga that is nearing its conclusion before its deadline passes on Friday.

Tottenham’s decision

Now that Harry Kane has reached the last year of his contract, Tottenham must decide whether they wish to sell. Signed when Tottenham were on top, Kane has entered his thirties without winning a major trophy at Spurs.

Bayern Munich have made contact with the club but their offer has yet to be accepted. No increase has been pushed through thus far and it seems unlikely.

Levy would prefer that Kane remain at Tottenham, and will be reluctant to see their star player sold off at a fraction of what he is worth. Unfortunately, however, Bayern could demand too high a fee to refuse him; something which would be devastating both to Kane himself as well as the club.

Kane’s future

Harry Kane has made it clear he doesn’t plan to sign a new contract with Tottenham, prompting renewed interest from Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich. Their previous two bids for Kane had already been turned down by chairman Daniel Levy; their most recent offer, however, appears far short of Tottenham’s PS68 million ($88 million) plus add-on valuation.

Kane could use a switch to Bayern as an opportunity to win team silverware he hasn’t managed with Tottenham yet despite reaching two Carabao Cup and one Champions League finals with them. However, most believe he’d rather stay under new manager Ange Postecoglou.

At his first pre-season press conference, Australian manager Chris Aitken did not avoid questions surrounding Harry Kane’s future at Chelsea; he instead reiterated his goal to build a team without overrelying on their star players. Meanwhile, Kane shrugged off speculation surrounding his future by scoring four goals against Shakhtar Donetsk 5-1 friendly on Sunday and leaving no trace as far as anyone was concerned.

Bayern’s bid

Bayern Munich have made an offer worth around PS86million for England captain Wayne Rooney after having two previous offers rejected by Tottenham. While this falls short of Tottenham’s valuation, it represents a substantial improvement over what had been offered previously.

Bayern have made Kane one of their main priorities this summer in search of an elite replacement for Robert Lewandowski. Thomas Tuchel needs someone who not only scores goals but can also hold up play and bring fast runners onto the pitch; all traits Kane displays.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has not responded to Bayern Munich’s latest bid and remains focused on their preseason tour, with Shakhtar Donetsk due as their opponent before their Premier League season kicks off against Brentford on August 13.

Negotiations

Bayern, Kane and Tottenham all understand that completing their deal quickly would benefit all parties involved and prevent it dragging on into next season.

Bayern are understood to have prepared an improved bid and hope that Kane can be persuaded that joining them is the correct decision. He wants more silverware on his resume and joining Bayern would almost guarantee silverware – and possibly his one major trophy missing so far from his CV.

Bayern Honorary President Uli Hoeness has already indicated that Bayern are intent on signing England’s top goal-scorer and that an offer could soon come about, especially with their attacking trio comprised of Kingsley Coman, Leroy Sane and Joshua Kimmich offering such huge potential.
