After a quiet start, Man City are back in full force

Josko Gvardiol gives update on Chelsea transfer interest

Joshko Gvardiol is closer to joining Manchester City.

According to German publication Bild, “According to our information, RB Leipzig and City have reached an agreement over the signing of Gvardiol. He will be left out of the squad for the pre-season games and will watch from the stands. A formal announcement of his transfer will be made in the coming days.”

At a young age, Gvardiol has already established himself as a world-class center back. He made a name for himself in the Bundesliga and beyond at Leipzig and captured the attention of soccer fans around the world with one of the tournament’s standout performances at last year’s FIFA 2022 World Cup in Qatar. A move to a big club was always in the cards for Gvardiol.

City approached Gervinho because they were in need of defensive reinforcements. City boast a 토토 strong squad that won the treble last season, but they know they need to bring in a world-class center back like Gervinho if they want to retain their title. With Aymeric Laporte likely to leave in the summer, they also need a center back to rotate with Nathan Ake.

This is the kind of signing Pep Guardiola wants to make. “Guardiola really wants Gervinho, he has all the right attributes. He’s still young, but he’s very physical. Guardiola likes the way he plays defense.”

If City were to sign him, he would likely become the most expensive center back in the world. Bild estimated that Gervinho’s transfer fee would be in the region of €90 million ($128.2 billion), which the publication said would surpass the €87 million ($123.9 billion) that Harry Maguire earned when he left Leicester City to join Manchester United.

Leipzig are looking to sell Gvardiol for a big transfer fee and additional revenue. According to Bild, Leipzig will make a friendly match a condition of the sale, and are also hoping for ticket revenue from the friendly. Leipzig look set to make another big-money transfer this summer, following Dominik Sobosler.
