Industrial Training Institutes provide post-secondary Level 1 (equivalent) training with qualifications ranging from certificates to diplomas.

Many ITI graduates work in highly skilled trades roles, such as plumbers and electricians, due to the high demand for qualified workers in those industries.

ITIs are funded and run by the Ministry of Industry and Skill Development. The Ministry has two objectives:

ITI offers a variety of programs in several skill areas, including industrial arts, computer applications, electronics, biosciences, and a host more.

A four-year course leading to a bachelor’s degree is available at some ITIs for candidates who want to pursue higher studies after completing their course.

The programs offered at ITIs are designed after the suggestions of a specialized committee called the Central Advisory Committee on Technical Education, which seeks to harmonize state-level policies in technical and vocational education.

The committee suggests that the course content include all subjects required in higher secondary schools and the updated courses.
