The most efficient and evolving industry, that is bringing new technologies and trends with the growing and changing times is the electrical industry. Can you get your fan changed automatically without human assistance? Or can you fit any electrical installation with a robot? No! That is not possible yet. Although, there are chances that the electrical industry will grow by 2050 at this time electricians and trading industries are fighting and reversing much more to retain the workers.

You can learn electrician skills along with your study or job. This is a career field that requires installation, designing, and maintaining. People are dropping traditional studies instead of academic degrees at university. So far, the best course for electricians is the 18th Edition training.

The latest rules and regulations of the electrical industry have introduced an 18th-edition training course to learn about electrical wiring, equipment, and systems with safe and precautionary measures used. This is offered by the City and Guilds as a part-time learning course. The candidates should have knowledge about the previous editions of the courses. The 18th edition training course is basically the amendment 2 made to the 17th edition course. The training centers have then reflected to change and revise the training sessions. Changes Made to the Course:

The color of the writing regulations of the 18th Edition also changed from brown to blue color. The changes involved in this course after the amendment of March 2022 are;

  • Adapting the new tools and technologies such as energy-efficient solutions and solar panels.
  • The safety, usability, and efficiency of the installations must meet the standards and criteria of electrical industry operations.
  • The regulations will reflect the duties of electrical engineers and their fast-paced knowledge to adopt new technological changes.

Some of the significant changes are incorporated with the addition of new part 8 of BS7671:2022. This provides the learners with a whole new chapter, that is chapter 82 and it addresses the following changes;

  • Finding new earthing requirements.
  • The removal of risks for the exclusion of using RCD protection on sockets and their outlets.
  • The designer, developer, or manufacturers will use low-voltage installations of electrical equipment.

Final Thoughts:

Anyone who is interested in electrical installations can practice this short course to achieve a great understanding of the wiring regulations. In actuality, this is an additional course to enhance your electrician skills and knowledge but this is not a necessary one to become an authorized electrician in the UK.
